KIKINDA NATIONAL MUSEUM - 2nd Prize
Kikinda, Serbia
Competition for the creation of a conceptual solution for the permanent exhibition and accompanying contents of the National Museum of Kikinda
Announcer: Kikinda National Museum
Year: 2011.
The concept of small town museum, which aspires to be the best in the region, carries the desire for modernity but also it also adapts to existing socio-economic context. Such museum would represent both modernity and rationality, dynamism and moderation in order to be attractive to local community and also to visitors from out of town. Exhibition space is monochrome, its purity completely eliminates any decorative elements and thereby relieve visitors of excessive information. Spaces in which the materialization of nature predominates are special purpose rooms. Souvenir-book store, which is completely covered with nature wood panels, is the space between the last exhibition hall and the entrance hall. By connecting specific spaces with large glass surfaces the museum becomes a single whole.
