VILLA IN REŽEVIĆI

Rezevici, Montenegro
Client: Private
Design concept, Design development, Interior
Year: project 2017., constructed 2009-2015.

The villa is located in Reževići on the Montenegrin Adriatic coast. The cliff on which it is built involves extremely steep terrain between 36 and 50 m above sea level with a view of the open sea. In the wider environment, the villa represents the most prominent point of the land towards the sea. The building follows the configuration of the terrain and adapts to the existing landscape. The three cascaded floors are connected by an external and internal staircase. When entering the courtyard, the ground floor splits and the villa can be accessed via two separate entrances – directly to the first floor and to the ground floor. By cascading the level of the courtyard already at the entrance – the villa does not have a great height on the approach side and thus does not obscure the view of the sea from the access road. The basement floor is in direct contact with the lower terrace and the outdoor pool.
The villa is covered with local stone of different types and levels of processing. Clear, straight lines and flat shapes in natural materials, their relation to the steep slopes of the mountain on the one hand and the horizontality and openness to the sea on the other highlight the desire for a contemporary integration of traditional elements into the natural environment.
